Roborock Change WIFI (Connect To A New Wi-Fi Network)

Changing the Wi-Fi network on your Roborock will not delete your map. However, if you prefer to delete the maps, you can do so by removing the device from the app, turning off the map-saving feature, and pressing the reset button located next to the Wi-Fi LED on your vacuum.

To switch to a new Wi-Fi network, follow these steps Press the spot cleaning button and the recharge button to reset the Wi-Fi. Once this is done, you can easily re-add your Roborock to the app by entering the new network name and password.

How to Change Roborock Wi-Fi?

To connect your Roborock vacuum cleaner to a new Wi-Fi network, you need to reset the previous Wi-Fi settings. After the reset, simply connect to your new 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Keep in mind that resetting the Wi-Fi is different from performing a full factory reset, which erases all device settings, including saved maps.

There are two ways to change the Wi-Fi network on your Roborock: using the app or by manually resetting the device and reconnecting.

Connect Your Roborock App to New Wi-Fi

To connect my Roborock S7 to a new Wi-Fi network, I followed these simple steps:

  • Open the Roborock app on your phone or tablet.
  • Tap the small (?) button located at the top left of the screen, where it shows the robot is offline.
  • When the help screen appears, click the “Reconnect” button.
  • The app will ask for your new Wi-Fi details (Wi-Fi name and password). Enter them correctly.
  • Reset the Roborock’s Wi-Fi by pressing both outer buttons (not the power button) on the robot for a few seconds. The Wi-Fi indicator will flash slowly once it resets.
  • Simply follow the on-screen instructions in the app to finish setting up. For iOS users, make sure to select the correct device Wi-Fi network in your phone’s settings before returning to the Roborock app to finish the process.

Reset Your Roborock’s Wi-Fi Settings

If you prefer not to use the app’s “reconnect” feature, you can reset the Wi-Fi directly on your Roborock device and then reconnect it to the app.

The Wi-Fi reset process differs by Roborock model, as each has different buttons. Remember, this isn’t a full factory reset, which would erase all your settings. You’re just resetting the Wi-Fi.

Here’s how to reset the Wi-Fi on popular Roborock models:

  • Roborock E2, E3, CE: Press and hold the “Spot Clean” and “Recharge” buttons together for 3 seconds. Lift the front cover and check the Wi-Fi indicator for status.
  • Roborock E4 and E5: Press and hold the power and dock/spot clean buttons until you hear the “Resetting Wi-Fi” prompt. Open the front cover and take a look at the Wi-Fi indicator. A slow flash means it’s ready to connect.
  • Roborock S4 and S5: Press and hold the power and dock buttons until you hear the reset prompt. Open the front cover and observe the Wi-Fi indicator. A slow flash signals it’s in pairing mode.
  • Roborock S6, S7, Q7: Press and hold the “Spot Clean” and “Dock” buttons until you hear the reset prompt. The Wi-Fi indicator should flash slowly, indicating it’s ready to connect.

In general, you’ll press the relevant buttons until you hear the reset prompt. For models with two buttons (power and dock), hold them for 3–5 seconds. For newer models with “spot clean” and “dock,” press and hold until you hear the reset prompt.

After resetting, check the Wi-Fi indicator. If it flashes slowly, the robot is ready to pair. The robot stays in pairing mode for about an hour before needing a reset if not connected.

Reconnect Your Roborock to Wi-Fi Network

To reconnect your Roborock vacuum to Wi-Fi, follow these simple steps. First, make sure you’ve reset the Wi-Fi settings if you haven’t done so yet. Then, disconnect the device from the Roborock app and add it back as a new device. Don’t worry, resetting the Wi-Fi won’t affect your saved maps or settings, so you’ll still have everything as it was.

Before you start, ensure your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to link your Roborock to. Remember, Roborock vacuums only work with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, you may need to turn off the 5 GHz band temporarily.

Follow these steps to reconnect your Roborock to Wi-Fi:

  • If you don’t have it yet, download it from your app store, sign up for an account, and allow the necessary permissions. Make sure to select the correct location.
  • Press the ‘+’ button in the app to get started.
  • You should see a blinking blue light on your Roborock. After completing that step, press “Next” in the app.
  • Select your Wi-Fi network from the available list and type in your password. Tap “Next” to proceed.
  • You’ll need to connect directly to the Roborock’s Wi-Fi. Go to your phone’s settings, find and connect to the Wi-Fi network that starts with “roborock_vacuum_XXXX.” Once connected, return to the app to complete the setup.
  • When your Roborock successfully connects to the network, the blue Wi-Fi light will turn solid.
  • Go back to the app’s homepage and select your Roborock. Wait a moment for the initialization process to reach 100%.

And that’s it! You’ve now successfully connected your Roborock to a new Wi-Fi network.

Conclusion

Changing the WiFi network on your Roborock vacuum is simple and quick. Whether you’re moving or updating your network, follow the steps in this guide to reconnect your vacuum.

Make sure your WiFi operates on a 2.4GHz frequency, as Roborock vacuums do not support 5GHz networks. Also, ensure your WiFi uses WPA2 encryption, as other methods or password-free networks aren’t compatible.

Changing the WiFi won’t erase your vacuum’s map, as it doesn’t rely on WiFi to work. The network is only needed for features like scheduling.

If you encounter issues, check the manufacturer’s instructions or contact customer support. With a little patience, you’ll easily reconnect your Roborock vacuum and enjoy its advanced features again.
